Overview
Hemp Beverage Legal Status, Contracts, Testing, and Other Top Legal Issues
Hemp-derived product sales are a billion-dollar industry in the U.S., and hemp-infused drinks are the next big thing. Hemp beverages sit at the crossroads of agriculture, food/drug law, alcohol regulation, advertising, banking, and a fast-moving patchwork of state rules. Do you know how all these rules and agencies interact? This CLE course explores the federal baseline; the FDA’s current stance on CBD/THC; how those positions flow into TTB alcohol-beverage controls; and what state “consumable hemp” regimes mean for formulation, labeling, testing, and retail. You’ll leave with a clear view of what it takes to carry a hemp beverage from concept to compliant commerce. Craft a practical legal roadmap for hemp beverages - non-alcoholic and alcoholic. Register today!
- Distinguish hemp from marijuana under the CSA and understand the DEA's position.
- Reconcile select state-law permissions with FDA's interstate prohibitions.
- Identify top legal issues in financing, age gating, and claim substantiation.
- Create compliant labels, including net quantity, ingredient lists, etc.
- Draft contracts that ensure supplier compliance, retailer registrations, risk mitigation, and more.
Abbreviated Agenda
- Federal Legal Status of Hemp-Derived Cannabinoid (HDC) Beverages
- Hemp Beverage Production Rules and Best Practices
- Distribution Contracts, Marketing, and Interstate Commerce Restrictions
